In its latest report on the quality of air in Europe, European Environment Agency says that Albania is far from meeting EU imposed requirements on pollution. According to this agency, Albania has crossed the red line along with countries such as Croatia, Poland, Serbia and Bulgaria.
Pm2.5 particles in Albania are estimated to cause around 1400 premature deaths a year. Another important indicator is nitrogen dioxide, which is a direct product of gases emitted by motorcars. It is estimated that this substance causes 130 premature deaths a year in Albania.
According to this agency, Albania is one of the most highly exposed countries to pollution in Europe. /ibna/
