Leader of BDI (Democratic Union for Integration), Ali Ahmeti demands for an agreement to be reached as soon as possible on the name dispute, after the elections taken place in the country and neighboring Greece.
“The latest proposal of the UNO negotiator on the name, Mathew Nimetz is a good basis for compromise. Now that the elections have ended in Macedonia and Greece, sides must sit down as soon as possible and talk about the solution of the name dispute”, declared Ahmeti.
The head of BDI made this declaration following the meeting held in Tetovo with Torbjorn Sohlstrom, general director for political affairs at the Foreign Ministry of Sweden and Swedish ambassador to Skopje, Mats Stafanson.
According to Ahmeti, there can only be positive developments in the Balkan region with the assistance of the international community and the good will of domestic politicians.
“International friends and the country’s politicians cannot allow steps backwards to be made. Together we will protect our big joint investment in Macedonia”, said the leader of BDI. /ibna/
