Albania will soon have an Agriculture Produce Exchange, which will be opened in Lushnja. This exchange will be a balanced platform on prices based on auctions. The prices will become public through financial TV channels, which are interested on publishing the reference prices.
Minister of Agriculture and Food, Edmond Panariti says that this step will mark a big transformation of the Albanian agriculture and will serve as a pioneer development in the Albanian financial market.
“We are taking a pioneering step in agriculture. We will create the Agriculture Produce Exchange in Lushnja. This responds to the fast development of agriculture. Farmers need a coordination of prices on sale, purchase and export, to prevent speculation and to have transparency”.
The minister says that this exchange will prevent speculators enabling domestic competition. The Exchange will also determine Albanian imports.
“The fact that such exchange for agricultural produce is created, is a big transformation of agriculture”.
Until the end of September 2016, Albania’s exports were 24 thousand tons higher than the total exports of 2015. /balkaneu.com/
