The agreement for good neighboring relations with Bulgaria, which aims at addressing the disputes between the two countries on issues of the language and history, has been made public by the government of FYROM.
This action was taken as a result of the fact that VMRO-DPMNE in opposition accused the government led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of concealing the agreement reached with the Bulgarian side, because according to this party, it is damaging for the country and affects issues of national interest. Governments of both countries have approved the text of the agreement, while its signing will take place on 1 August in Skopje, between Prime Ministers Zoran Zaev and Bojko Borisov. Zaev said that the agreement is in line with the national interests of the country, which gives way to Euro-Atlantic integration.
The agreement has been praised by the US embassy in Skopje and Sofia through a joint statement, saying that agreement shows the good will of both countries to strengthen cooperation. The agreement has also been considered as a historical step that opens up perspectives for both countries. /balkaneu.com/
