The ad-hoc media monitoring commission has been appointed in FYROM. This commission will monitor the media during the 100 days prior to the elections. The commission was formed through the political accord between the four largest parties in the country, which had to propose their candidates. The candidates had to be professional journalists.

VMRO-DPMNE proposed journalist Sladjana Dimiskova of the Vest daily newspaper, and Cvetin Cilimanov of MIA news agency. Meanwhile, SDSM proposed Lubomir Kostovski of “Globus” magazine and Goran Trpensovski of the Vest newspaper.

Besides these four members, another Albanian member should be elected too. Albanian parties BDI and PDSH must reach a consensus on the fifth member of this commission.

This commission will issue its recommendation to the media regulatory authority in relation to the monitoring of media during the 100 days prior to the elections.

Meanwhile, the Association of Journalists in FYROM has considered this decision as outrageous, because according to it, journalists are being chosen by political parties and that this damages professionalism on the media. /balkaneu.com/
