Pre agenda debate in Parliament on developments in the field of Justice is asking the prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, in his letter to House Speaker, Nikos Voutsis.

As is mentioned in the letter, “the central objective of the government is to restore the trust of citizens toward Justice, a trust which in recent years has been lost, due to the extra-institutional and anti-constitutional activities of the previous governments”.

The PM’s letter mentions, among other things, that “the government’s commitment to this goal is demonstrated by the fact that for the first time in years Justice breathes freely and proceeds to a thorough investigation of the positions that had been previously ‘abandoned’ to the ‘rodent criticism of the mice’. Indicative of this is the progress in the investigation of cases of the Borjans and Lagarde lists, without guarantees of bank loans and other financial crimes at the expense of the Greek state, which possibly even touch the old country’s political system”.

The date for the discussion will be announced during today’s Meeting of the Presidents to the House.

The letter of the Prime letter:

“Lately, social dialogue has been flooded and is being poisoned by groundless pretexts and complaints relating to the conditions for the exercise of government policy in Justice.

These complaints are forwarded by particular centers that have reasons to fear the unimpeded and independent judicial function.

But the actual unfortunate thing is that the complaints are being reproduced by the main the opposition but also by other parties in parliament.

But the main and stated objective of the Government is to restore the trust of citizens toward Justice, a trust which in recent years has been lost, due to the extra-institutional and anti-constitutional activities of the previous governments.

“The government’s commitment to this goal is demonstrated by the fact that for the first time in years Justice breathes freely and proceeds to a thorough investigation of the positions that had been previously ‘abandoned’ to the ‘rodent criticism of the mice’. Indicative of this is the progress in the investigation of cases of the Borjans and Lagarde lists, without guarantees of bank loans and other financial crimes at the expense of the Greek state, which possibly even touch the old country’s political system”.

Given the above, it is our duty to open, in a meaningful way, the relevant debate in parliament at the highest level without taking shortcuts and using tricks such as the attempts in recent days by the main opposition.

For this reason I ask you to set a date for the execution of a pre agenda debate in Parliament solely on developments in the area of Justice under Article 143 of the Rules of the House. ”

ND: “Mr. Tsipras will come apologizing”

“Mr. Tsipras is looking for escape routes. To this debate, after the latest developments, he will come apologizing, “was the reaction of ND to the prime minister’s request.

“The debate is welcome, but in no way replaces the request of New Democracy for immediate investigation of the case by the Committee on Institutions and Transparency of the Parliament”, is stressed in the announcement of the main opposition party.
