A 7.9% increase in passenger traffic, registered the largest Romanian airport Henri Coanda (Otopeni).
According to ACI Europe, which represents more than 500 airports in 45 European countries, Henri Coanda (Otopeni) airport recorded 5.47 million passengers during the first five months of 2019.
Otopeni Airport recorded a 7.9% increase in passenger traffic in this period, one of the most significant increases in the region. By comparison, Budapest airport recorded 5.9 million passengers (more than 7% increase), while Warsaw airport recorded 5.8 million passengers, recording an increase of 8.7% compared to the first five months of 2018.
Budapest airport accommodates more tourists, while passengers travel through Bucharest airport for business reasons or are Romanians living abroad and visit Romania for vacations./ibna
