Serbs of Kosovo too voted in the Serb parliamentary elections, given that this is guaranteed to them with the principle of dual citizenship, which is part of the Constitution of Kosovo.
Based on the preliminary results, according to OSCE, 47,500 Serbs exerted their right of vote.
The holding of Serb parliamentary elections in Kosovo, on Sunday and before, has been rejected by opposition parties, considering it as a violation of the Constitution of Kosovo and against the efforts for the integration of the Serb minority in the institutions of Kosovo.
Through a press release, representatives of Self Determination considered the holding of Serb elections in the territory of Kosovo as unconstitutional.
“With these elections, Serbia will reconfirm its presence in Kosovo and at the same time, it will prove its stance that Kosovo is part of Serbia. There’s no doubt that Serbia’s elections in Kosovo, in accordance to the Constitution of Serbia, is in violation with the Constitution of Kosovo. Based on the Constitution, Republic of Kosovo is an independent, sovereign, democratic state”, Self Determination declared.
Alliance for the Future of Kosovo said that the elections for Serbia’s parliamentary elections in Kosovo are unacceptable.
“The stance of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to allow voting in Kosovo for the elections in another state, is a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Constitution of the country”, says the reaction of AAK. A similar stance has also been taken by Incentive for Kosovo.
Acting Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Petrit Selimi said that the holding of Serb parliamentary elections in Kosovo is not a violation of the Constitution of Kosovo, because the officials of Serbia’s Election Committee were not allowed to participate in this process.
He declared that Kosovo was not involved in the holding of these elections within the territory of Kosovo. /balkaneu.com/
