More than half of deaths in FYR Macedonia are a result of cardio vascular diseases, indicate data from the Institute of Public Health in Skopje.

Authorities appeal for awareness to be raised for a more healthy living, which means prevention of heart diseases and a better life.

“According to the World Health Organization, every year, around 17 million people have an untimely death as a result of heart diseases and this occupies 30% of the general number of deaths. In Macedonia, blood circulation diseases are the primary death factor with 57,8% of the general number of deaths or out of 19 thousand deaths, 11 thousand occur as a result of heart diseases”, declared Eleneva Qoseva from the Public Health Institute.

Doctors recommend for the population to reduce the risk factors in order to reduce possible complications of cardiovascular diseases.

Based on statistics, the number of deaths as a result of cardio vascular diseases last year went down as opposed to 2012, as a result of preventive controls. Citizens are advised to carry out more regular checkups. This year, September 29 marks the World Heart Day under the motto “Live, work, move, unite”. /ibna/
