Security authorities in Kosovo say that at the present, there are around 314 citizens from Kosovo who are in conflict areas in the Middle East (Syria and Iraq).
Meanwhile, during this year, there has been no case of Kosovo citizens going or being killed in these areas of conflict.
These data were made public today by the Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni while reporting in front of the Committee for Home Affairs and Security.
“According to the information that we have, there are around 314 Kosovo citizens in Syria. There are 70 active fighters from Kosovo in Syria and Iraq. There are also 38 women and 27 children, while 57 citizens have been declared dead”, said Hyseni.
The Minister of Interior said that police have stopped 40 citizens before going to Syria and Iraq.
According to him, police have launched inquests on 199 people, while 102 people have been arrested and 34 people have been sentenced.
During this hearing, minister Hyseni said that Kosovo has marked significant progress in the aspect of extremism and radicalism.
