Citizens continue to sign the petition against the decision against the Energy Regulatory Body (ERB) for the increase of the price of electricity. So far, over 30 thousand signatures have been collected, said the organizers.
The collection of signatures has been organized by the Coalition of the Citizens of Kosovo, unions and civil society, after electricity went up by 5.18%, which was preceded by a 4.57% three months ago.
The accurate number of signatures is not known because signatures continue to be collected in communes. This petition has been signed in 22 communes so far, but more signatures are expected to come.
Coalition of the Citizens of Kosovo, unions and civil society calls on ERB to revoke the decision taken for the increase of power supply prices, because this is not in the interest of the citizens of Kosovo.
Visar Azemi, head of the Kosovar Consortium of Civil Society for Sustainable Development (KOSID), said that although the petition has been announced as completed, the will of the citizens against the decision of ERB is very big and that this will cannot be stopped by any institutions of Kosovo.
Azemi said that such increase is damaging the social and economic interests of the citizens and this is unacceptable for them.
“We demand from the institutions of Kosovo and parliament of Kosovo to act as soon as possible and work in the best interest of the citizens of Kosovo”, said he.
According to representatives of this petition, besides the increase of the price of electricity, citizens are also facing power supply cuts. /ibna/
