Around 2500 refugees have been stopped by Albanian police during this year. These are refugees who consider Albania as a transit country in order to reach EU member countries.
The refugees stopped by Albanian police are mainly Syrians, Iraqis, Afghans and they also come from countries of Northern Africa.
On the other hand, data suggest that the number of people who have applied for asylum this year in Albania was 1700.
In order to prevent a growth in the number of those who cross the Albanian territory, Albanian police has raised its state of alert in different critical areas of the country. /ibna/
