124,000 refugees and migrants have reached Greece alone.
UNHCR reports that 98,000 refugees have been counted in Italy and 124,000 in Greece, based on information in its possession until the end of July.
During the same period, more than 2,100 persons lost their lives at sea or are still unaccounted for. This figure does not include casualties and missing persons from the recent naval tragedy that occurred on Wednesday off the coast of Libya.
On Friday the prime minister will chair a government meeting on the examination of issues related to refugee flows.
