Nikos Pappas to attend the forum “Global Progress 2016”

“State Minister Nikos Pappas is in Canada since Wednesday. In Montreal, the State Minister will participate in the forum ‘Global Progress (Global Progress) 2016’, an organization that connects progressive think tanks, initiatives, institutes and movements from around the world”, according to a communication of the State Minister Office.

“The forum is hosted this year by the independent progressive think tank in Canada, «Canada 2020» and brings together over 200 representatives from 20 countries, who will explore the prospect of a social and economically progressive international community, discussing, among others, issues such as welfare, diversity, innovation and digital democracy ( The forum is attended by personalities such as the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the vice Chancellor of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, the Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio and the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

Nikos Pappas is a guest speaker at Thursday’s panel on “Giving form to Globalisation: Social Cooperatives and National Prosperity in a Global Context”, which seeks to provide answers to questions such as: “How can we create a common narrative progress and prosperity in the 21st century, that is attractive, comprehensive and realistic? What global economic forces must be considered in formulating a global prosperity agenda?”.

The Greek Minister of State will have a chance to discuss with the vice Chancellor of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, the leader of the Labour Party of Australia, Bill Shorten, the leader of the Labour Party of Norway, Jonas Gahr Store and the Swedish Minister for European Affairs and Trade, Ann Linde. The discussion will be moderated by Minister of International Trade of Canada, Chrystia Freeland.

Then, the State Minister will travel to New York where he will join the mission headed by the prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, for the first meeting of the United Nations on refugees and immigrants.
