By decision of the ND president, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in the 10th regular congress of the party, which will take place over the weekend in Athens, will not participate representatives from the congress of youth, after what happened in Thessaloniki on Sunday.
In a statement, Mitsotakis points out that “the political proposal of New Democracy concerns is addressed first of all to the new generation, one that seeks the truth and is inspired by the values of freedom, solidarity and dignity”.
However, he clarifies that “the depreciation images of ONNED at the congress of the historical youth of the party emit decline and the end of an era”.
Mitsotakis, who had shown from the first moment his displeasure for the picture presented by the youth of the party, speaks of “unhealthy atmosphere” and for events that can not be accepted, and points out that in the congress of ONNED there was no election.
“In my speech at the conference ONNED, Friday, I said clearly that I will not tolerate an ONNED of mechanisms that reproduce the ills of yesterday”, he said.
“In the conference of ONNED there was no election. Consequently, no delegates from the youth congress will participate. The responsibility for this unacceptable situation will be attributed immediately, as is provided by the statute”, he notes, hastening to clarify that he honors the history ONNED and for this reason immediately after the New Democracy Conference, he will reestablish the party of New Democracy.
“We honour the history of ONNED. We give a strong perspective on our relationship with young people and therefore we move immediately after the conference of New Democracy in the reestablishment ONNED. We leave to the past the negative attitudes and practices, service mechanisms and benefits distribution, which eroded the youth of the party and its appeal to young people.
After the re-established, ONNED will be a modern, creative political youth. Open to all young people. Collective, without inclusions and discriminations, groups and group leaders. A youth who will display and serve ideas and policies for young people, society and our country”, says the president of ND.
Andreas Papamimikos resigns from Secretary of ND
His resignation from the political committee and a member of the party submitted the secretary of New Democracy Andreas Papamimikos, to whom the party leadership had shown the exit for the unprecedented events in the conference ONNED.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis had consider deleting both Papamimikos and the president ONNED Vasilis Georgiades, essentially threatening that unless they facilitated him with their resignation from their posts until tomorrow he would send them to the Disciplinary.
Papamimikos went to Syngrou to submit his resignation, while the resignation of Kyriakos Georgiadis was also expected until late last night.
In his statement expressed his opposition to the abolition of ONNED. “As of today, six years ago I was elected president of ONNED. I have never had relationships with organisations. Some are trying to find a way to write me off just before the ND Conference and the end of my mandate”, he added, concluding that he resigns to facilitate the K. Mitsotakis.
