Situation in the north of Kosovo dominates the debates in the UN Security Council
The meeting of the UN Security Council has been dominated by debates on the murder of the Serb politician, Oliver Ivanovic in Northern Mitrovica, Special Court and security in the region.

The Serb Foreign minister, Ivica Dacic said that the situation in Kosovo is also a threat for the region, while the US ambassador in the United States, Vlora Çitaku, referring to Ivanovic’s murder, said that authorities in Kosovo will do everything within their power to bring the perpetrators before justice.

The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley said that she believes Kosovo is perfectly able to conduct the investigations on Ivanovic’s murder on its own without interferences from abroad. She added that Serbia and Kosovo are in front of a historical moment in reaching an agreement between the two countries.

The head of UNMIK in Kosovo, Zahir Tanin has started his speech with the latest report of the European Union concerning enlargement, saying that the process for the normalization of relations with Serbia is crucial for Kosovo.

But, he said that the process of dialogue between the two countries in the past year has seen very little development. In his speech, he also mentioned the incentive to repeal the Special Tribunal repeating the declarations of international representatives that such decision would be damaging for Kosovo. /balkaneu.com/
