Security breach at Slovenian NiceHash leads to theft of 4,700 bitcoins
Late on Thursday (December 7) night, the CEO and co-founder of the Slovenian crypto-mining firm and digital currency marketplace NiceHash, Marko Kobal announced at a live-streamed (over the firm's Facebook page) news conference that, unfortunately, 4,700 of its bitcoins had been... successfully robbed.

The incident took place "after an employee's computer was compromised", reports SeeNews. "As at 10.20 CET on Friday," adds the report, "the value of the stolen bitcoin amounted to $73.0 million (62.2 million euro)."

Kobal said that, "a hacker or a group of hackers were able to infiltrate our internal system through a compromised company computer. Someone really wanted to bring us down."

NiceHash works together with local as well as international law enforcement and cyber security specialists. According to the firm's CEO, the IP address that accessed their system is probably a non-EU one.../IBNA
