Leader of SMI Vasili resigns: New energies are needed to be in opposition
The leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Petrit Vasili has handed his resignation today from the leadership of this party, several days after the holding of the general elections in the country.

“I have decided to resign as chairman of SMI and I have requested to be appointed as chairman of the parliamentary group”, Vasili said.

According to him, the new position as the head of the parliamentary group of SMI requires new energies, while the Socialist Movement for Integration requires new dynamics. This is why he proposed the name of Monika Kryemadhi to replace him, believing that she can do this job very well.

On the other hand, Vasili confirmed the fact that now SMI’s mission is to create a new spirit.

“The leading committee decided how the party will be restructured in opposition. We want to offer to Albania a true opposition. Therefore, I have decided to submit my resignation as chairman of SMI and I’ve requested to be trusted with the position of chairman of the parliamentary group. Voters have decided to give SMI the responsibility of opposition. This new role requires new responsibilities that relate to new energies”, he said.

In the end, he thanked around 230 voters nationwide, who, according to him, not only gave a better result to SMI, but they also voted with moral integrity. /
