The World Bank has backed the agreement reached between Kosovo’s Ministry of Economic Development and Contour Global for the creation of new generating capacities in the “New Kosovo” thermal power plant.

Minister of Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci said that the agreement was reached in the USA.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Civil Society Consortium for Sustainable Development (KOSID) is against the finalization of negotiations between minister Blerand Stabileci and the American side for the construction of the new thermal power plant.

Eli Gashi of KOSID says that the negotiation of 1,4 billion euros of Kosovar taxpayers money without the approval of parliament and the lack of transparency for such a high amount, is a serious risk for the credibility and legitimacy of this process.

Gashi says that the price of power after the construction of “New Kosovo” thermal power plant will go up by 300%. /ibna/
