Greece - Turkey discussion of the Cyprus problem before talks begin again
Turkey and Greece take the Cyprus issue very seriously. According to the latest news, Mehmet Cavusoglu, the Turkish Foreign Minister, has asked his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias to talk about whatever matters affect the Cyprus problem "before any future resumption of negotiations", reads the CNA.

This formal step comes after last summer's collapse of the Cyprus reunification talks, which took place in Crans-Montana, Switzerland and were supported by the UN.

Their inconclusive end, at the beginning of July 2017, had made the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres admit at the presser which followed the last session: "I'm very sorry to tell you that despite the very strong commitment and engagement of all the delegations and different parties ... the conference on Cyprus was closed without an agreement being reached.".../IBNA
