Government Spokesman elaborates on President Anastasiades next steps
The attention of the President of the Republic is focused on the Cyprus issue and issues concerning vulnerable groups, and for these in the following period, specific actions will be taken on the part of the executive authority, said the Government Spokesman, Nicos Christodoulides.

In his statements to the press, at the Presidential Palace, to the question whether there is any dilemma in the Ministry of Finance in relation to the issue of the composition of the new Cabinet, he replied "none whatsoever. The President will first see all members of the current Cabinet and then take his decisions. Have patience. It is the constitutional right of the President of the Republic and when decisions are made, they will be announced".

To a journalist's remark that the President wants to end the rumors that exists in the media on the issue of the composition of the new Cabinet and asked if the President will be ready next week to announce his decisions, the spokesman said "he might be ready next week, but at this time no one can talk about a specific date".

Asked what should be the next steps in regard to the Cyprus problem and if the President will talk with Akinci, the spokesman said that "the Cyprus issue and other very specific priorities relating to the first actions of the President of the Republic are the ones that concern him at this moment. This is where the attention of the President of the Republic focuses, whether it concerns the Cyprus problem or issues that concern vulnerable groups of the population. And these are issues for which, in the immediate future, and with the reopening of the House, there will be concrete actions on the part of the executive authority.

To return to the Cyprus issue, the Chief Council will soon be convened, and then the President will take concrete steps".

Asked if the President would proceed to a composition of a widely accepted Cabinet, the spokesman said that "the aim is to establish a Council of Ministers of a wider social acceptance - that is the clear message of the elections. Beyond that, what I have said above is true. When the President takes final decisions, they will be announced"./IBNA
