FYROM receives 1,5 billion euros a year from migrant workers

1,2-1,5 billion euros is the amount that migrant workers send to FYR Macedonia on an annual basis. This is said by the head of Northwestern Macedonia Economic Chamber, Famit Bytyci. According to him, Diaspora is an important source of wellbeing in the country.

“Three years ago they were 2 billion euros, while this figure has gone down to 1,2 billion. Unfortunately, 70% of remittances entering the country are spent to meet the basic needs of the population”, Fatmir Bytyci says.
