Erdogan: Turkey could strike N. Iraq and its Kurdish militants at any moment
Recep Tayyip Erdogan has the elections coming and various open fronts in the wider area around Turkey, so, one more issue perhaps would not be the best for him.

Still, the Turkish president has warned that if the main Iraqi government in Baghdad does not clear northern Iraq of the Kurdish militants, Ankara is ready to strike the area. More particularly, Kurdish militant camps in the mountains of northern Iraq in Qandil, Sinjar and Makhmur.

In an interview with broadcaster CNN Turk, the head of Turkey said his country may strike Qandil "at any moment one evening."

According to Reuters news agency, "Turkey regularly carries out cross-border operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, where the group is based in the Qandil mountains. Ankara has also threatened to launch military operations in northern Iraq's Sinjar region.".... / IBNA
