In FYROM, level of public debt increases by 3 euros every second. This is indicated by the public debt index published by the Research Center for IT at the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts.

Its chairman, Taki Fiti said that this situation is alarming and that the government must slowdown this borrowing.

“The debt must be managed rationally. We must see how much we need to borrow, because if we borrow too much, the debt will grow. I think that budget expenses can be cut and borrowing may be prevented”, said the head of the academy, Taki Fiti.

Current public debt in FYROM is at 49,18% of GDP and according to experts, with this percentage, debt for every citizen is 2 thousand euros.

Meanwhile, ministry of Finance says that official figures for public debt are 46,5%. /ibna/
