Changes in taxation, Albanians are no longer buying online
Following a trend that existed up until recently, the trend of online purchases in Albania has fallen. Such fact is indicated by the latest figures of the Institute of Statistics, according to which, the volume for online purchases has seen a significant drop in the first half of this year, following the change that the ministry of Finance made to the tax relating to this category of purchases.

So, the transport of goods by mail marked an annual drop of -13% in the period January-April 2017.  Meanwhile, the amount of goods that was transported was 146 tons, as opposed to 169 tons during the same period a year ago.

Let us recall that in summer 2016, the government decided to apply VAT and customs taxes on online purchases which were over 22 euros, while gifts or packages that people received from abroad were taxed after their value exceeded 45 euros. /balkaneu.com/
