Bulgaria's exports in January - February 2018 up by 2.9%, trade balance negative - statistics institute

In January - February 2018 the value of all goods exported from Bulgaria amounted to just more than eight billion leva and in comparison with the same period of the previous year, exports increased by 2.9 per cent, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on April 12, citing preliminary figures.

In February 2018, Bulgaria's total exports added up to 3 828.2 million leva, a decrease by 5.3 per cent compared to February 2017, the NSI said.

The total value of all goods imported into Bulgaria in January - February 2018 amounted to 9.62 billion leva (at CIF prices), or 11.1 per cent more January - February 2017.

In February 2018, Bulgaria's total imports increased by 3.1 per cent compared to February 2017 and added up to 4.5 billion leva.

The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative in the period January - February 2018 and amounted to 1.6 billion leva, the NSI said.

At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) in the period January - February 2018, the total foreign trade balance was also negative and added up to 992.1 million leva.

In February 2018, the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative and added up to 737.2 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices was also negative and amounted to 471.2 million leva.

In January - February 2018, Bulgarian exports to third countries decreased by 20.9 per cent in comparison with the same period of the previous year and added up to 2.24 billion leva. The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, United States, the Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and the Russian Federation which accounted for 56.7 per cent of the exports to non-EU countries.

Bulgarian imports from third countries in the period January - February 2018 increased by 9.3 per cent in comparison with the same period of the previous year and added up to 3.48 billion leva (at CIF prices). The largest amounts were reported for goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Serbia.

The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in the period January - February 2018 was negative and added up to 1.24 billion leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and amounted to 984.7 million leva, the NSI said.... / IBNA
