Bucharest’s airports, in top 5 European airports with highest air traffic growth in Q1
Bucharest’s Henri Coanda (Otopeni) and Aurel Vlaicu (Baneasa) International Airports were ranked on top five European airports which have shown the best air traffic growth in Q1 of 2017, as announced by Airports Council International – Europe, Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) informs in a press release.

Thus, for the category of airports that have between 5 and 10 million passengers, Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport recorded an increase of 21.4 percent in air traffic, ranking fifth after Reykjavik-Keflavik (Iceland), Kiev, Larnaca (Cyprus) and Malta.

Instead Baneasa Airport placed first in Europe, but in the category of airports with less than 5 million passengers per year, followed by Nis (Serbia), Oradea, Mykonos (Greece), Zadar (Croatia), CNAB also shows.

In the first quarter of 2017, in the category of airports with over 25 million passengers per year, the ranking is: Moscow Sheremetyevo, Manchester, London Gatwick, Amsterdam and Oslo.

In the 10 – 25 million passengers per year category, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Lisbon, Prague and Brussels were ranked first.

CNAB recorded in the first three months of 2017 on Henri Coanda and Aurel Vlaicu International Airports in Bucharest an air traffic of 2.6 million passengers and 28.249 aircraft movements (landings and take-offs).

“The evolution of the number of passengers on the two airports of CNAB significantly outstrips the general trend registered at European level of 6.9 percent. At the airports of Bucharest there was also an increase in the number of aircraft movements, surpassing also the European trend of 3 percent. Thus, in the first eight months of 2016, the number of aircraft movements at Bucharest airports increased by 8.6 percent year-on-year,” the release reads./IBNA
