Banks dominate the Albanian financial market

Banks dominate the Albanian financial market
“The banking system dominates the largest part of financial products and services.” This was said by the governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, according to whom, time has come for the financial market in the country to be expanded and for banks not to have a monopoly.

“Over 80%  of investments in the financial system are in the form of deposits and current accounts. Only 12% of them are in the form of government T-bills, while the remaining 6.5% have been invested in investment funds and private pensions. Statistics show that the number of companies that operate in other segments  of the financial sector remains high, while their activity in terms of GDP remains insignificant”, he explained. /
